Few weeks to the commencement of the New Zealand 2015 FIFA World
Youth Championship (WYC), the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has
earmarked N445.3 million to ensure that the Flying Eagles team give the
country the best representation at the tournament.
The financial plan, enclosed in the federation’s 2015 annual budget
submitted to both chambers of the National Assembly, equally revealed
that while the international training tour currently embarked upon by
the team would gulp N171.479 million, N67, 500 was set aside to ensure
the team did not miss Nigerian foods during the tournament.
Starting with the international training tour, the football
federation while giving a breakdown of how it intended to expend the
N171.479 million funds, revealed that laundry will gulp N1 million,
while N70 million would be used to prosecute international friendly
matches, just as administrative logistics, Insurance and transit
accommodation for the team would take N10 million, N6 million and N9
million respectively.
Still giving breakdown of the international training tour, the
federation disclosed that its president, Pinnick Amaju will pocket $6000
for the 10-day Pre-tournament camping period, while his General
Secretary and chairman of the technical Sub-committee get $4,250 each,
even as the 25 players involved in the trip will share a total of

According to the document, the federation president will smile to the
bank with $9000 for the 20-night duration during the tournament proper,
bringing his total Estacode to $15,000 (about N3.225 million) just as
the new Minister of Sports will pocket a total of $9000 (about N1.935
million) during the tournament.
While only two board members included in the trip will share $17000
(about N3.655 million), eight government officials included in the
20-night duration trip, will share $68,000 (about N14.62 million).

staff, four unnamed officials, director of sports development and four
other officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC) will share a
grand total of $89,250 (about N19.188 million).
The document further specifies that while the officials would enjoy
fat allowances, the 20 players that would make the final shortlist for
the tournament will share a total of $60,000 (about N12.9 million) while
the chief coach will enrich his domiciliary bank account with $40,500
(about N8.6 million) allowances.
The two areas that took greater chunk of the entire amount during the
tournament proper, according to the document, include
contingencies/administrative logistics and transitional accommodation as
the expenses amounted to $28,700 (about N61.7 million.
The football federation further disclosed that it set aside a total
sum of N28.90 million for the printing of tournament brochure, medical
consumables and local camping, which gulped the large chunk of N24.3
million.
