Since education should be used to solve problems, let’s work hard to ensure excellence in the education system,” he said..post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com..General Gowon commended the Federal Government’s huge investment in the education sector particularly through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND)  and called on all stakeholders in the sector to work hard to restore the lost glory of education in the country.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of NOUN, Professor Vincent Tenebe, disclosed that the Bogoro Study Centre is the ninth community study centre, which brings the number of study centres in the country to 63.
Tenebe said the Bogoro Community Centre would not have been possible without the visionary initiative of TETFUND Executive Secretary, Professor Suleiman Bogoro.
He said: “Motivated by his concern for the welfare and progress of his community, this distinguished academic and administrator of no mean repute took it upon himself to champion the establishment of a community study centre of the National Open University in Bogoro. We commend this pragmatic administrator for his thoughtfulness and concern for the welfare of his people.”
In his goodwill message, Professor Bogoro said he was elated that the former head of state honoured the invitation to be the special guest of honour at the commissioning of the study centre.
Professor Bogoro explained that the hall in the study centre has been named after General Yakubu Gowon as a mark of respect for his commitment to keep the nation united and his dedication to education, which saw him studying up to doctoral degree level after  being head of state.
“Gowon represents excellence and decorum. We, as young men must reverence people like Gowon and make them a reference point,” he said.
