Chairman of Ondo State elections petition tribunal, Justice O. A.
Ogar, said the tribunal has received 17 petitions relating to the last
National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections in the state
from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives
Congress (APC).
The tribunal sitting began yesterday at the premises of the National
Industrial Court, Akure after compiling the petitions of all the
plaintiffs.
Ogar, chairman of the five-member tribunal, expressed the readiness
of the tribunal to give accelerated hearing to all the petitions before
it.
He stressed that the tribunal would not tolerate any act that could
delay its hearing from any of the parties involved in the petitions
before it.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com..He assured that hearing would proceed to the pre-trial stage soon to
ensure that all cases before it were attended to within the time
stipulated by the law..The PDP was challenging all the five House of Assembly seats won by
the APC in the state, while the APC was challenging three House of
Representatives, one Senate and eight House of Assembly seats won by the
PDP candidates in the elections.
Speaking, counsel to the APC and the PDP, Dr. Tunji Abayomi and Mr.
Remi Olatubora respectively expressed confidence in the tribunal.
The duo expressed confidence that their clients would get favourable
judgment from the tribunal, saying they all have substantial evidence to
buttress their petitions.
