Expdonaloaded News; 2 Abia rulers bicker over visit to Gov Orji

governor-theodore-orji-The no love lost between the former Chairman of Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM (Eze) Isaac Ikonne and the incumbent, HRH (Eze) Eberechi Dick has resonated when the former, who is the present chairman of Ukwa/Ngwa Traditional Rulers Council paid a ‘thank you’ visit to Governor Theodore Orji for supporting their son and governor-elect, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

This is even as Eze Ikonne has appealed to Gov Orji to call Eze Dick and the Chairman, Aba North traditional Rulers’ Council, Eze Love Wogu to order over their alleged constant attacks on his person. He said ever since he gave the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, a chieftaincy title as Ogbuagu 1 of Aba, he had remained a subject of their ridicule.
Speaking with Expdonaloaded blog on the issue, Eze Ikonne said on May 6, he and other members of the council visited Orji to thank the role he played for an Ngwa man to emerge governor-elect.
Justifying the visit, Eze Ikonne said, “apart from being the foremost tradition ruler in that part of the state and having been on the throne for 46 years, I think as a trustee of Abia State creation movement and former chairman of Abia State Traditional Rulers Council; I was eminently qualified to pay the governor such visit.”
He said contrary to threats and pressure put on his members by Eze Dick not to embark on the visit, they went and the governor received them with open arms and expressed happiness over the visit.
To Eze Ikonne’s surprise, “three days after that visit, Eze Dick and Eze Wogu went on air to castigate me, reminiscent of what they did when I gave chieftaincy title to the President-elect, General Buhari, this time around, saying I was trying to take over their position, that I had not done anything for the state, that I came to reap where I did not sow .
“If what they meant by not doing anything for the state which I played an active role in its creation was not following politicians about, they should go ahead and be degrading themselves, I’m not a politician and cannot join them in that mad rush to carry bags for politicians for pittance as the politicians know those who genuinely worked for them without waiting to be rewarded,” he said.
The monarch said if Eze Dick could justify his attack on him when he gave a chieftaincy title to Buhari who he alleged he (Dick) sees as his political foe, that he had no reason to attack him for visiting the state governor.
He appealed to Governor Orji to call Eze Dick and Eze Wogu to order.
