THE golf course of the famous Ikoyi Club 1938 will
come alive tomorrow when the 54th edition of the most prestigious
amateur golf championships in West Africa, the FirstBank Lagos Open
Golf Championship tees off with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
According to FirstBank Group Head, Marketing and Corporate
Communications, Folake Ani-Mumuney, the first day of the championship,
Friday, will begin with practice round and end with an interactive
session on golf simulation game.
The championship continues on Saturday with first round of competition and professional coaching clinic/beat the pro challenge.
On the final day, Sunday, the guest players would first take the
center stage before the final rounds of competition among title
contenders.
Other events slated for the final day include professional coaching
clinic and interactive session on golf simulation game scheduled to hold
everyday of the competition. The championship will end with banquet
dinner and award ceremony at the Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section Upper
Terrace.
Ani-Mumuney revealed that the annual FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open
Golf Championship had enhanced the brand of the bank, as a major driver
of golf sponsorships. “For the 54th edition, we aim to involve
strategic partners to enhance the value and content of the championship
for increased innovative engagements, more fun offline, and digital
experience for golfers and non-golfers alike,’’ Ani-Mumuney said.
