The paramount ruler of Igbo-Ukwu Kingdom in Aguata Local Government Area
of Anambra State, Igwe Martins Ezeh, has described the death of
Nigerian Muslim Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia at the just concluded Hajj as a
disaster that would linger for a long time in the minds of Nigerians.
In a statement, Igwe Ezeh prayed to Almighty Allah to give Nigerians the
fortitude to bear the loss.
He said since the bad news broke, his
palace had been inundated with calls from Muslim leaders in the state,
who sought to know if any of the victim was from his domain but so far,
there is no such report,” he said.
Speaking on the recent bomb attacks that killed scores of Nigerians in
Abuja, Maiduguri and Adamawa State, the royal father condemned the
attacks and called on Nigerians to cooperate with the law enforcement
agency to restore law and order in the North East and other parts of
Nigeria. While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for his stance on
zero tolerance for corruption which is gradually restoring Nigeria’s
image among the committee of nations, Igwe Ezeh called on Nigerians to
fully support the president in his effort to rid the country of
corruption.
On Nigeria at 55, the royal father lamented that five and half decades
after independence, Nigeria was yet to attain the dreams and aspirations
of her founding fathers as corruption and tribalism have continued to
hinder her progress. He called on Nigerians to continue to support the
government of President Buhari, adding that very soon country the would
overcome her challenges and becomes the strongest nation on earth.
