Google is known to commemorate every occasion with a Google doodle. This day, as India celebrates its 69th anniversary of independence, the Google doodle shows Mahatma Gandhi , followed by supporters during the famous Dandi March. Gandhi, to protest against the tax resistance and the salt monopoly implemented by the Britishers in India, led the march on Aug 12, 1930 from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, Gujarat. This was an important event that triggered the Indian Civil Disobedience movement.
