THE Nigeria Football Federation has deployed an advanced team to ensure the availability of home-made food for the Super Eagles ahead of their clash against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania. The AFCON 2013 winners are lacking nothing in terms of food ahead of tomorrow’s game. Arrangements had been concluded to feed the players with special delicacies like Garri, Semo, Egusi and Ogbono. Although the host nation, Tanzania, had assured the NFF of good reception, NFF officials opted not to take anything for granted.
The team is staying at the Hyat hotel in Dar-Es Salam while the match is expected to kick off by 2.30pm, Nigerian time which is 4.30 in Dar es Salaam. Meanwhile, England- based Nigerian goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, had reassured Nigerians lamenting the absence of Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, for the crucial game against Tanzania that he will not be under any form of pressure if he is selected ahead of home-based counterpart, Ikechukwu Ezenwa. The Wolverhampton Wanderers FC goalkeeper admitted that he was overwhelmed when the invitation came, stressing that he would go extra mile not to disappoint his fans and Nigerians generally. Asked how prepared he is to fill the void Enyeama’s absence has created, the English League Championship reliable goalkeeper maintained that he will try not to pile pres- sure on himself. “As the coach said, pressure is what we bring to ourselves. I am not a baby goalkeeper for the withdrawal of Vincent to put me under pressure. I am just doing what I know how to do best. So to answer your question, I am not under pressure,” he assured of his mental readiness to stand in for Enyeama. On his feeling when he got the invitation, he said: “I felt very much delighted and thank the coach for the invitation. I was not really expecting it and what I will bring into the team is exactly what I have been doing for my club.”
