There is tension in the Armed Forces as President Muhammadu Buhari may have ordered the military hierarchy to account for the number of weapons purchased to fight Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East.The President, Daily Sun authoritatively gathered, was also said to have ordered the Military High Command to make available records of total amount of money it received from the Federal Government to curb insurgency.

Top military sources who spoke with Daily Sun, revealed that these and many other decisions were taken after Mr. President met with the service chiefs comprising the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-General Kenneth Minimah, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase.
The sources who did not want to be mentioned, said the President may have taken the decision due to grumbling in the military by some personnel, who felt that their bosses and their colleagues occupying strategic position had taken advantage of the counter-terrorism operations to enrich themselves.
This, they insist, was not unconnected with the huge amount released by the government, while others met their untimely death in the anti-terror war.
The sources said many of their colleagues who are now dead would have survived if those responsible with the disbursement of funds did so promptly.
This was responsible for troops’ apathy not because they are afraid to fight but because they don’t want their families to suffer after their death.
The attitude is said to have discouraged most personnel who do everything in their powers to avoid being posted to the North- East. It is now a general belief that you either get killed, maimed or court martialed if you are posted there.
This, they accused the authorities of doing to justify the money they make.
Sources revealed that shortly after President Buhari won the election on March 28, top serving and retired military officers began to bombard him with complaints of misappropriation of funds by serving military personnel who are taking advantage of the war to make huge money.
The complainants went as far as revealing the names of some of the personnel allegedly involved in the blood money, who are openly displaying their wealth to anyone that cares to see.
These personnel, who had nothing before the commencement of the counter-terrorism war, have suddenly become millionaires overnight as they have said to have acquired choice properties in the Federal Capital Territory and drive the latest and expensive cars to the detriment of their colleagues.
The source said those who partook in the blood money are now running around to gather whatever they can get to make refunds before nemesis catches up with them.  “I can assure you that the president has given them a standing order to produce the records of how they spent the money allocated to them for the Boko Haram war, this in terms of weapons purchase, kits, logistics among others.”post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com..
“We decided to reach the President on this because a lot of our officers and men who were not supposed to have died lost their lives while those who were lucky to be alive are now deformed, while others are busy gallivanting in their ill gotten wealth.”
“This is because some of us who are aggrieved decided to use our means to reach the President and tell him how our big men looted the money given to us to fight the Boko Haram terrorists,” source said.
“Most of our personnel have no bullet proof jackets, no uniforms, thus prompting the soldiers to wear all manner of shades of camouflage, poor feeding/payment of operation allowances among others too numerous to mention”.
The sources said rather than provide troops with the necessary logistics meant for the operations, soldiers received condemnation from their commanders, thus dampening their morale.
“Most of our bosses, see the operation as an avenue to make money and lobby to get posted to the North-East”, another source told Daily Sun.
“Unlike in the last when we soldiers lobbied to go for international peace-keeping operations, because of the foreign currency that we make, people don’t lobby to go for peace-keeping again, what they do is lobby for counter-terrorist war in the North-East because the profit is very huge,” the source said.
