The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN)
has accused the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) depot
manager in Osisioma/Aba depot, in Abia State, Mr. Emmanuel Mgbakiri, of
frustrating products loading process meant to ensure its availability
within the area.
Marketers, who expressed dismay over the attitude of the depot
manager lamented that rules were no longer followed at the depot,
accusing the manager of giving priority to the highest bidders and those
loyal to him.
They complained that for some time now, members already on line do
not get the products, and were forced to go to private depots, where
they were compelled to load at higher cost.
When contacted, PMAN Eastern zonal chairman, Chukwudi Ezinwa, who
spoke to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, alleged that products meant for
some marketers, who had spent several hours and nights waiting for their
turns, were later diverted on the orders of the manager.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com
“We have found out that the depot manager has over some time now
breached the standard rules set by the PPMC for the products loading
programmes.
“It has been discovered that majority of marketers who registered and
queue up for their trucks to be loaded would be asked to step aside and
give way for some others who are cronies of the depot manager,” he
stated.
Reacting to the allegations, the depot manager, Mgbakiri, said:
“Please, I understand you are a press man with The Sun Newspapers, but I
am not permitted to have press talk with you as a public servant.”
“Therefore, direct whatever you want about me through my Area Manager
or Public Affairs, whom I am standing in for. You try and do right so
that it will not backfire. Mr. C.F Nzinwa knows how to channel his issue
as IPMAN zonal chairman and so, he should not hide behind you to
address his issues.”
