Enugu State governor-elect Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and all the National
Assembly members-elect from the state were yesterday issued INEC
certificate of return.
Speaking on behalf of others, Ugwuanyi thanked God for the
opportunity to serve the people, “He has made this day possible. I also
thank God for the instrument He used to ensure a free, fair and credible
election in the state.”
The people of Enugu State, he said, have spoken and God endorsed it,
“on behalf of other elected officials, I pledge that we will render
selfless services to our people to take the state higher.”
Issuing the the certificates to individuals, the INEC National
Commissioner, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states, Gladys Nwafor, urged those
given the mandate to serve the people to do their best in the interest
of those who elected them.
“It’s not been an easy task but the anointing of God has fallen on
you to serve the people. It gives me joy that Enugu is one of the most
peaceful states during the election and I associate myself with those
who love peace.
“Please sir, remember your people; they elected you because they know
you are capable. You made a lot of promises in your manifesto whatever
you can do remember your people.”
