The meeting was the first after the elections.  The council was said to have briefed the president on the strategies for a smooth transition on May 29 and issues bordering on the milage of the war against terrorism in the North-East of the country. The service chiefs, alongside other heads of
Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), had been ordered by the president to turn in their hand-over notes before April 20 to ensure early preparation of the president’s final hand-over note to the incoming administration.
Other issues discussed during the closed-door meeting included the handling of security prior, during and after the March 28 and April 11 elections.
