Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, has tasked political leaders to put the interest of the people above their interests.
The monarch made the call when he paid a congratulatory visit to the
Governor of Kano State and senator–elect for Kano Central Zone, Rabi’u
Kwankwaso, at the Government House in Kano.
He stated that leaders were elected to serve their people, protect
their interests and promote their welfare, stressing that ideally,
political leaders were servants of the people, who gave them the mandate
through the ballot box.
Mallam Sanusi 11 said while people had the right to vote for
candidates of their choice, the elected leaders should justify the
mandate by being honest and committed to the socio-economic changes
promised to the people during their campaigns...expdonaloaded.blogspot.com
He appealed to Governor Kwankwaso, as senator-elect, and other
legislators-elect from Kano to make legislative presentations that would
be in the best interest of Nigerians, especially Kano citizens.
Responding, Kwankwaso said Nigerians, irrespective of their
differences, should regard the victory recorded by the All Progressives
Congress (APC) in the recent polls as a victory for all.
