THE Nigeria men and women handball teams will clash with their Kenyan counterparts in their opening games at the ongoing 11th African Games in Congo Brazzaville.
According to the fixtures, hostilities will begin in the basketball event today but the Nigeria women team will begin their campaign against Kenya tomorrow at the Kintele Stadium here in Brazzaville while the national men’s team will open their campaign on Saturday, also against Kenya.
Meanwhile, Technical Director of the Nigeria Handball Federation, Coach Patrick Atusu, had expressed confidence that his team would be competitive at the games although he raised concerns over the players’ unfamiliarity with the new facilities at the venue of the competition.
“I’m not promising anything but I know that we’ve trained well for the games. My only worry is that the players are not used to the new facilities at the venue of the competition because it is different from the facility they”re used to. However, I expect a good outing from out teams” Atusu said.
