Expdonaloaded News; FRSC convicts 33 motorists in Anambra

frsc1
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) mobile court in Onitsha, Anambra State yesterday convicted 33 motorists for various offences.
They include over-loading, seat-belt violation, driving without valid driver’s license, outright driving without driver’s license, reckless driving and driving against the traffic.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Sunday Ajayi, said that the mobil court exercise was part of the on-going FRSC’s “Operation Restore Sanity in Roads in Anambra State’’.

Ajayi noted that the operation was meant to check motorists in Onitsha and its environs that had been notorious in driving against traffic.
According to him, “Most times the best way to enlighten motorists is by enforcement.
The mobile court here is not only enforcing the rules and regulation of governing usage of the road but also interpreting them to the offenders”.
“I know some commercial drivers, who faced the magistrate and paid the stipulated fines, would have a lot to tell their colleagues in the park and their various loading points”
“FRSC would continue to join Gov. Willie Obiano’s vision in making Anambra roads safer for all,’’ the commander said.
He said that the mobile court exercise would be a continuous exercise, adding that the corps would not relent until motorists comply with road rules and regulation would.
The court, however, discharged two drivers; while all the prosecuted motorists went through some minutes of road safety enlightenment.
One of the convicts, Mr. Simon Madu, said that he was unaware that his front-space passenger was not putting on his seat belt.
