A pro-democracy group, De Raufs Volunteer Group, will tomorrow
honour the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr.
Femi Adesina.
The group, which consists of socio-political volunteers across the
country, also listed Senators Shehu Sani from Kaduna State and Deola
Yayi from Lagos State; House of Representatives member from Osun State,
Mojeed Alabi and the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of
Lagos State, Mr. Habib Haruna, as among those to be honoured.
In a statement by the Director General of the group, Mr. Amitolu
Shittu, the reception had been slated for tomorrow at Lagos Airport
Hotel, Ikeja.
“De Raufs, as an organization, serving the interest of the people,
has considered it necessary to honour deserving personalities whose
lives and times have been dedicated to the service of humanity in their
various spheres of endeavours with verifiable acts of unrelenting
patriotism. “We, therefore, appreciate and celebrate them to encourage
and inspire others in true service to fatherland,” the statement read in
part.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, is expected to host the
reception, which will have the crème-de-la-crème of the society in
attendance.
Invited dignitaries for the reception include General Alani
Akinrinade; former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola;
former president of the Nigerian bar Association (NBA), Mr. Rotimi
Akeredolu (SAN) and Mr. Abdullah Binuyo.
The trio of Oba Rauf Olawale Adedeji, the Akinrun of Ikirun; Oba
Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, the Olofa of Offa and Oba Moshood Olawale
Olaleke, Afaaji of Faji will serve as royal fathers at the reception.
Other expected guests are the Speaker of Lagos State House of
Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa and former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji
Balarabe Musa, who are to give keynote addresses while Alhaji Lai
Muhammed and Aisha Jibrin Dukku, former minister of state for education
will serve as the chairman and lady chairperson respectively.
Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola is expected as the distinguished guest of honour at the event.
