Expdonaloaded News; 50-year-old man shot in Onitsha

A 50-year-old father of four, Mr. Emmanuel Obiajulu Awogu, was yesterday reportedly shot by two gunmen on motorbike at Upper Iweka near Onitsha flyover on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway at about 12 noon,According to a source, the victim, said to be the circulation manager of a Lagos-based magazine, was heading for Awka at the time he was attacked. He was reportedly shot at a close range on the chest, but miraculously he was still alive when a policeman arrived the scene and rushed him to a private hospital where his life was saved.

The source said the victim lost his GSM phone, unspecified amount of money and a handbag to the hoodlums, who shot severally into the air to scare away passers-by before they escaped.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State Police Command, Awka, Mr. Ali Okechukwu (DSP), said the incident had not been reported to his office as at the time of filing this story.
