Expdonaloaded News; Tears flow as parents see drowned pupils

Tears flowed like torrents in Lagos yesterday when parents of school pupils who drowned in a boat mishap in Ojo area on Wednesday saw the missing children fished out of the river by rescuers. Six more bodies were retrieved, taking the total to 12. A 14-passenger ferry capsized at 8am that Wednesday, it was carrying pupils on their way to school. Spokesman of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-West zone, Mr Ibrahim Familoye, told Expdonaloaded blogthat the search for the bodies continued yesterday morning and the six have been recovered.
Familoye said: “Three were recovered in the early morning while another three were retrieved from the water around 10am. The annoying thing is that the deceased pupils were all children going to school.” Citing traditional belief, a source in Marine Police said all the recovered bodies have been buried beside the river. Normally, people who drowned are buried beside the river.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com.. It is not a new practice.” It was gathered that parents of the deceased pupils had in the early hours of yesterday morning stormed the scene, praying to at least see the bodies. An eyewitness, Obesere Anthony, told Expdonaloaded blog that, “it was pathetic sight to behold when family members of the missing ones were begging those searching for the bodies not to abandon rescue efforts. Even when a body is recovered, see them anxiously hoping it would be theirs. It was a mixed reaction because after thanking God for seeing their children, you see them again breaking down in tears.
