Defending Champion, Enyimba International and reigning Glo Premier League champion, Kano Pillars were the biggest casualties of yesterday’s Round of 32 matches in this year’s Federation Cup.
Enyimba surrendered to National League side, Remo Stars 3-1 on penalties at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin after playing out a 1-1 draw at full time, while another National League side, Plateau United, ended the dream of Pillars after the Jos side prevailed 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 stalemate at full time.
Sharks of Port Harcourt suffered their second defeat to Heartland FC of Owerri in less than one week.
The Garden City-based Blue Angels lost 1-0 to the Naze Millionaires to kiss the 2015 Federation Cup bye. Yesterday’s Round of 32 matches also saw Bayelsa United bowing to Premier League new comers, Ifeanyi Ubah 2-1.
Meanwhile, Enugu Rangers, Lobi Stars Akwa United, Nasarawa United, El-Kanemi Warriors and Kwara United all advanced to the Round of 16 among others.
