According to the late Dr Adejobi’s gate man, the assailants had trailed the deceased to the house at exactly 10:10 pm on Tuesday evening and shot him twice after shooting sporadically into the air to scare residents of the community. One of the children of the late lecturer, Oyin Adejobi, in a voice laden with agony, narrated how her father was murdered in cold blood. “As we finished our evening prayer at 10:05 pm, dad drove into the compound. Then I overheard an argument between the gate man and some strange people. “I quickly looked from the window and I saw another black car that entered our compound together with dad’s car. “Our gate man challenged the occupants of the other car, they hit him and ordered him to lie down. “The men in the black car came out before dad could alight from his car and one of them shot into the air again. Two of them advanced to dad’s car while others entered the house. Grandma started begging those that came inside. Suddenly, we had gunshots twice from outside. “The assailants left at 10:20 and took dad away. I overheard dad begging them that they should not take him away. “When they left, we started praying for the safety of dad, unknown to us that he had been killed. When the police came, they saw his lifeless body within the flowers,” Oyin explained as she wept bitterly. The younger brother of the deceased who is also the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the death of his brother as very pathetic. The Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Police Command, Mrs Folashade Odoro, while confirming the incidence, said the command had commenced investigations into the matter and assured that the police would fish out the killers of Adejobi. The Public Relations Officer of OAU, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, said the death of Dr Adejobi was very unfortunate. He added that the management, staff and students of the university were very sad about the development. Olanrewaju lamented that it was unfortunate that university lecturers had become the target of kidnappers, armed robbers and assassins. He warned that the trend was dangerous for the educational development of the country.
