Expdonaloaded blog gathered that the plot was to allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) time to make progress in consultations within the party and also, mend the schism in the Senate caucus of the party.
Competent sources revealed that two legs of the plot were activated via text messages sent to all APC members-elect in the Eighth National Assembly. A new governor from the North-West and a former military administrator close to President Muhammadu Buhari, however, reportedly foiled the plot. They prevailed on the president to maintain his neutrality in the election of National Assembly presiding officers.
It was also gathered that the senators, who had used the name of the president to send out the text messages did not get his approval.
The arrowhead of one of the plots, Expdonaloaded blog gathered, was a North-East governor, who made several attempts to engage the Clerk to the National Assembly, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa in his office, with the sole aim to buying time and delaying him from moving to the Senate chamber to inaugurate the Eighth Senate. The plot did not work, as by the time he arrived, the Clerk had already entered the Senate chambers.post by Expdonaloaded blogspot.com..Also, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) were used to stop Maikasuwa, but it failed. It was gathered that the DSS operatives were to meet the Clerk in his office before 10am on the day of inauguration and tell him that the president wanted to see him in Aso Rock. The plan was to lure Maikasuwa out of the National Assembly Complex and therefore delay the inauguration. When the DSS operatives arrived Maikasuwa’s office, he had left and was already seated in the Senate chamber, armed with Buhari’s June 1 Proclamation. His Deputy, Ben Efeturi and Deputy Senate Clerk, Adedotun Durojaiye, were also already seated at the Senate chambers ready for the ceremony.
On discovery that the two plots to stop the Clerk had failed, a fresh text message was then generated, which directed all members-elect of the APC to converge on the International Conference Centre (ICC) for a meeting with Buhari. Some members complied, while others refused and headed for the two chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Also, words were passed around to some arrowheads of the factional APC Senate caucus that the inauguration would not hold, which also failed to achieve the desired result.
A ranking senator from one of the two factions in the APC Senate caucus confirmed to Expdonaloaded blog that no message, either verbal or electronic, came from the Villa.
“Why has nobody bothered to ask why Femi Gbajabiamila was present and stood for election on inauguration day and the same thing did not happen in the Senate?” the ranking senator queried.
