Expdonaloaded News; APC in Diaspora tasks FG on change

APC-LOGO-17As the Buhari administration settles down to work, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in the Diaspora has charged the three tiers of government to ensure that the party’s slogan of ‘change’ is not mere words.

The Vice Chairman, APC South Africa chapter, Dr. Abe Olusola Taye stated this in a speech presented to President Muhammadu Buhari in a meeting the president had with the Nigerian community at Nigeria Consulate House in Johannesburg during his visit to South Africa for the recent African Union (AU) Summit.
Describing the APC victory in the 2015 general elections as Nigeria’s finest hour in nation’s democratic journey, the APC chieftain said he had no doubt in President Buhari’s ability to lead Nigeria to greatness, noting that the president had demonstrated patriotism and integrity in the previous positions he had occupied in country.
However, Taye said politicians, especially those in APC, must know the limit of politicking when a political party takes the reins of power, urging the APC members to allow President Buhari to fully take root and deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians who have trusted him with their mandate.
The APC chieftain added that the party’s “change” slogan calls for diligence among government officials in the three tiers of government.
“APC slogan of change must not be mere words but positive actions for better Nigeria. This must be the true action for change by all the three tiers of government, legislature, executive and the judiciary. Politicians especially APC (members) must, therefore, know the limits of politicking, especially when a political party takes over the reins of power.
“The APC and our members need to allow government of President Buhari to take its proper footing and deliver to Nigerians dividends of democracy,” he said.
Furthermore, Taye noted that the  “APC-led Federal Government needs to imbibe the philosophy of right attitude of growth and not attitude of arrival syndrome. Arrival syndrome breeds obstinacy, stunted growth, and mediocrity in management of resources, and all forms of mediocrity in governance.
“Arrival syndrome leads to saturation and delayed progressive developmental ideas in technology, economy, education, health, industrial growth, diligent, competent and strong institutional structures. APC, as political party, must promote making services attractive rather than making positions attractive to justify change for better.”
He urged APC members not be concerned only about what the new government would do for them, but rather think of how they could add value to the APC administration and the various levels of government, especially as life was all about adding value.
“APC needs to ensure that every Nigerians in every nook and cranny of the nation must do things right. I will like to state that growing and going together for change in new Nigeria requires forgiveness at all times because united we stand divided we fall. APC slogan of change must be Nigerian commitments to make Nigeria the most loving place to live on earth,” he stated.
