His deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was sworn in at 10.33 am by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Moh’d.
The Chief Justice had administered oath of allegiance to both Osinbajo and Buhari.

Jonathan was called to the podium at 10.43am and Buhari at 10:46am.He took the oath of office at 10:50am and the arena erupted in shouts and claps. Jonathan then presented the Nigerian Constitution, the National and Armed Forces flags to Buhari.The national and defence flags were lowered at 11.01am, signifying the exit of the old era and the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh handed over to Jonathan the two symbols of his office while in government.Brand new flags (national and defence) were hoisted at 11.05am signifying the birth of a new era.Jonathan then vacated the stage at 11.07am and left the arena.President Buhari then released the doves at 11.09 am.
At 11.10am, the 21-gun salute went off amid shouts, with the crowd counting.
At 11.13am, President Buhari inspected a parade led by Commander, Guards Brigade, Brig. Gen. Bamidele.
Thereafter, the officers and men marched past in slow and quick time, and advanced in reverse order.
