CHAIRPERSON Nigeria Women Football and board member
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chief Mrs Dilichukwu Onyedimma, has
expressed happiness over the qualification of the Female U-20 team,
the Falconets, describing it as the capping of the myriad of
achievements she recorded during her successful tenure.
Speaking to Daily Sunsports on telephone after motivating the team
to victory against their South African counterpart, Onyedimma boasted
that it is now on record that all the female national teams qualified
for continental and international tournaments during her reign except
the Super Falcons that missed Olympic ticket by the whiskers.
Onyedimma, who was basking in the glory of the successful
organization of the highly-rated Female League Super-Six hosted by the
Abia State government at the Umuahia Township Stadium last weekend,
thundered that the qualification of Falconets has made her a more
fulfilled person.
“What can I say again. It is really a sweet victory for women
football especially as the ticket came shortly after organizing a
standard Female League Super-Six hosted by the Abia State government. I
never doubted what my girls can do but it is good that picking the
ticket has proved doubters very wrong.
“I make bold to say that my regime as chairperson women football has
set standard in the annals of Nigerian Women football. I am particularly
happy that the female national teams qualified for almost all the major
continental and international tournament with the exception of Super
Falcons missing Olympic Games ticket.
“Considering the circumstances and challenges women football is
facing in the country, we can conveniently hold our heads high as
achievers. It is really a pity that our detractors have failed to
acknowledge these feats because selfish and primordial sentiments, but
we will continue to wax stronger and stronger.”
