THE new Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), and his Health counterpart, Prof. Isaac Adewole, as well as the minister of state for Health, Prof Osagie Ehanire, yesterday, gave hints of how they intend to deliver on their respective new assignments.

Charging the staff of his ministry on ways to increase power supply to Nigerians, Fashola, who later held a close-door session with the permanent secretary, Mr. Louis Edozien, and the directors, said his thoughts were on how to combine the processes and activities of all the ministries under his supervision for effective service delivery.
He assured the ministry’s leadership of his willingness to learn from them as they are career people, who have been on the job for a long time, adding: “We are here to work with you, in solving problems on ground as quickly as possible. We want to know if some of those problems are man-made or systemic”.
Also speaking, the minister of state, Power, Works and Housing, Alhaji Mustapha Baba Shehuri, said he needed a detailed ministerial briefing document to serve as guide for proper take off.
On his part, the new Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, who also assumed duties yesterday, set a six- month target for restructuring the nation’s heath care delivery system.
Adewole, who addressed high ranking staff of the ministry, said: “What we need to do is develop a plan and set milestone for ourselves. We cannot work without a roadmap. We also will not work without milestone and deliverables. We need to set these deliverables, so that in the next six months, when people come to ask us what we have achieved, we should be able to tell them this and this we have achieved. But, in doing so, we have serious things to do in the next four weeks”.
Earlier, the minister of state, Prof Osagie Ehanire, pledged to consolidate on health interventions that are vital to improving services provided the public.
