MOVEMENT for the Actualisation of the Sovereign
State of Biafra (MASSOB) has come down heavy on Britain over her comment
on the agitation for a Biafran state. The group said British government’s double standard on global
politics and stiff opposition to self-determination by the people of the
defunct South Eastern province would not stop the independence of the
state of Biafra.
This is even as the Movement placed a curse on officials of the
British government, saying the ghost of the Igbo killed during the
civil war, which they alleged to have aided would continue to hunt them.
The British High Commission in Nigeria had last week through its
Press and Public Affairs officer, Joe Abuku said the British government
only “recognise the (Nigerian) borders laid down at independence” and
there would be no support for Biafra.
MASSOB Assistant National Director of Information, Sunny Okereafor,
said it was the same Britain which said it was not going to support
Biafra agitators that supported a referendum for Scotland to decide
whether they will still remain in the United Kingdom or not.
Noting that the same opportunity that was given to Ireland and
Scotland by Britain could have also been extended to the people of
Biafra “or are they saying what is good for the Irish and Scottish
people will not be good for the people of Biafra or is our own
different because we are blacks?”
