SUPER Eagles new gaffer, Sunday Oliseh beamed with
smiles for the first time after a game since he took over the team, as
his wards put up what could pass for a five star performance that
however produced only three goals in yesterday’s friendly against
Cameroon.Playing what is easily their best game so far under Oliseh, the
Eagles went on rampage as they outclassed the Lions in every department
of the game and in the process scored three un replied goals.Goals from Efe Ambrose, Moses Simon and Odion Ighalo did the magic for Nigeria at the Edmond Machtens-Stadion in Brussels.
The Eagles it would be noted had on Thursday flopped to DR Congo by
0-2 in a game that was played amidst the crisis that engulfed the team
no thanks to the feud involving Oliseh and long standing captain and
goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama.
Oliseh had before yesterday’s game been handed a must-win mandate by
his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who were
apparently not impressed with the outcome of the recent games played by
the Eagles.
Oliseh had in his very first game managed to secure a goalless draw
in the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam only to
secure a 2-0 win over lowly rated Niger in a friendly decided at the
Adokie Amasiemeka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The Eagles will next month begin the race to the Russia 2018 FIFA
World Cup when they face the winner of Swaziland/Djibouti in a first
round pairing.
The new Eagles handler had urged Nigerians to be patient with him as
he builds a new team, even as he stated that he is not a magician that
can build a winning squad over night.
