Ahead of the unveiling of ministerial nominees, former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to accommodate desperate politicians in his cabinet.
Tukur gave the admonition yesterday during his 80th birthday celebration.
In another development, PDP National Working Committee and its governors have begun moves to secure automatic ticket for Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada to contest the governorship election fixed for November.
Speaking on his tenure as chairman of PDP, Tukur declared that former President Goodluck Jonathan would have won the last presidential poll if he (Tukur) were not removed.
Meanwhile, PDP is in a quandary over its primary fixed for Monday in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Daily Sun checks confirmed that moves by the party’s national working committee and PDP Governors Forum to ensure automatic ticket for Governor Idris Wada met a brick wall. Wada’s main rival, Jubrin Isa, popularly called Echocho, has shunned entreaties to step down for the governor. A meeting convened by the PDP Governors Forum and some members of the party’s national working committee at Ondo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja could not resolve the issue.
But a source privy to the meeting told Daily Sun that the governors were not really pushing for automatic ticket for Wada.
“What they discussed was really on how to ensure that the party retains Kogi and Bayelsa states and manage the crises that may arise over the choice of candidates,” the source said.
