After dashing Enugu Rangers’ Federation Cup dream on
Wednesday, Lobi Stars looks to continue its resurgence in the current
Glo Premier League with another victory tomorrow at the Aper Aku Stadium
in Makurdi when FC Ifeanyiubah, comes calling.
Ifeanyiubah (formerly Gabros International FC) claimed all three
points on offer with a 2-0 victory when both sides first met on Match
Day 5 as Lobi struggled in the first half of the season.
The fortunes of both sides appear to have reversed with Lobi
steadily moving away from the drop zone on the log while FC
Ifeanyiubah’s form has been anything but impressive lately.
Lobi zoomed into the final of this year’s Federation Cup on Wednesday
after dumping out Enugu Rangers in the semi final. The Makurdi Stars
look into extend their celebration tomorrow with a sweet revenge against
the Capital Oil boys, Ifeanyiubah.
“Of course, there is nothing right now that will stop us from bidding
farewell to the danger zone. The rookies among us have found their
rhythm and blended perfectly with the rest of the team. The results are
steadily coming and it’s unlikely to dry off until the end of the
ongoing league season,” declared Lobi Stars’ coach, Justin Tenger.
In another interesting fixture tomorrow, returnee Technical Adviser,
Mohammed Babaganaru, would seek to reclaim the three points Kano Pillars
lost at Nasarawa United on Match Day 5 in the first stanza of the
season.
Interestingly, Baganaru who left Pillars after in controversial
circumstances after leading the club to win the league title
back-to-back in the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons sat in the dug-out
of Nasarawa United when the Solid Miners (nickname for Nasarawa United)
defeated Pillars 2-0 early this season.
