Controversies have not ceased to trail screen diva, Tonto Dikeh, who recently got married to one of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Oladunni Churchill. But the Ikwere, Rivers State-born actress recently took time out to clear the air about them all. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Channels Television during the week, the actress said she has learnt to keep her married life secret, because of the harm social media has caused to so many celebrity marriages. “I respect my marriage and I want it to work. That’s why I decided to take my time to really enjoy it. But I was surprised to see the pictures on the Internet a few days ago.
Like they say ‘a private relationship is the happiest one’, I have been very happy for a long time and that happiness will never cease,” she said. Clearing the air about her pregnancy rumour, Dikeh-Churchill explained: “It is a very good thing and something every woman should be proud of.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com.. I pray to be but then do I look pregnant?” For the actress, marriage has changed a lot of things about her. “Though people think I’m a controversial person because people judge me based on the kind of movies I act. They misunderstand me but I’m a very straightforward person. I am closer to God now. Though, I backslided before, now I can say that I am a born again Christian,” she reiterated. Speaking about her stint in the music industry, the newly married Dikeh-Churchill stressed: “I don’t regret being in the entertainment industry at all. Though, some of my colleagues tend to discourage me, I believe in myself to excel. I used to watch Rita Dominic’s movies then in secondary school and I convinced myself that I could become an actress too. “I see myself being an actress and a musician as a blessing, because it has afforded me the opportunity to learn a lot of things about business. D’banj is a very shrewd businessman. I just recently opened an engineering firm, which I would be dedicating my time to from now.” On her charity foundation that caters for rape victims, the actress said: “It is based on stories I have heard of and two movies that had to do with rape that really touched my heart to do something about it.”
