Expdonaloaded News; Buhari probes arms deal from 2007

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-Gen. Babagana Mungonu (retd), to raise a committee to investigate the procurement of hardware and ammunition in the Armed Forces from 2007 till date. The committee is in keeping with Buhari’s determination to stamp out corruption and irregularities in the public service, according to the Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement.
He said the committee’s mandate is to identify irregularities and make recommendations for streamlining the procurement process in the military. Accordingly, the NSA named a 13-man committee which is headed by AVM J.O.N. Ode (retd.). Members are Rear Adm J. A. Aikhomu (retd.), Rear Adm E. Ogbor (retd.), Brig. Gen. K. Adekagun (retd.), Brig Gen M. Aminun Kanu (retd.), Brig Gen. N. Rimtip (retd.), Commodore T.D. Ikoli, Air Cdre U. Mohammed (retd.), Air Cdre I. Shafi’i, Col A. A. Ariyib, Gp Capt C. A. Oriaku (retd.), Mr. I. Magu and Brig Gen. Y. I. Shalangwu, who is the Secretary of the panel.
