Expdonaloaded News; Security personnel defuse 2 bombs in church in Jos

No fewer than two bombs were yes­terday discov­ered at ECWA Church near Federal Sec­retariat in Jos, Plateau State capital. Spokesman of the Special Task Force (STF), Captain Ikedichi Iweha, who con­firmed this to News agency of Nigeria (NAN), said one of the bombs was kept in the toilet of the church, while the other was hidden in the church compound. The STF spokesperson explained that the one in the toilet was defused and taken away by security agents, while the other was con­trolled before it exploded. He said:
“There is no ca­sualty and the place has been cleaned up by our security men. Church service is still in session as I speak to you.’’ Meanwhile, security per­sonnel had cordoned off all routes around the area. Last week Sunday in a church in Yobe’s commercial town, a suicide bomber deto­nated a bomb where more than fiver persons were killed. The bomber, who rode to the church on a motorcycle at about 10a.m, arrived mid­way into the Sunday service. He sat down quietly amid worshippers, who were un­aware of his evil mission to the church. Minutes later, the bomb went off. Five people were killed and about 20 persons were injured. The church, a 30-member congregation of The Re­deemed Christian Church of God, is located at the out­skirts of the town along Jos Road. Also last week, explosions in a mosque and restaurant in Jos claimed many lives.
