The apex Igbo socio political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has threatened to instigate the Igbo race into massive protests against the Federal Government if the authorities failed to return the Boko Haram suspects relocated to Ekwulobia prisons, Anambra State.
President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra State, Elder Chris Eluemunor, who issued the threat at his country home, Nkwele Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area during a chat with Expdonaloaded Blog  yesterday, expressed regret that the first thing President Muhammadu Buhari did for Ndigbo after his inauguration was to send suspected terrorists to the state. Condemning the action, he said Ohanaeze Ndigbo was saddened by the development and expressed fears that such action could import terrorism into Igbo states. He advised the Federal government to as a matter of urgency evacuate the detainees out of Anambra and build special camps for them in the North where they could be rehabilitated. “What reason will Buhari give to Ndigbo for an action like this? We are very sad about it and we condemn it in all ramifications. We don’t have maximum-security prisons in the whole of South-East and we don’t know what informed this action. The government should intensify efforts in combating terrorism and not distributing or spreading terrorism in the country. The movement of suspected terrorists should be restricted in the country so that they won’t have any chance to spread,” he said. Also speaking, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Allinace (APGA) and former senator who represented Anambra North in the National Assembly, Chief Alphonsus Igbeke, condemned the action, describing the silence of the Federal Government over the relocation of the Boko Haram detainees to Ekwulobia prisons as unpalatable. Senator Igbeke said the government’s action would escalate terrorism in the country instead of curtailing it, noting that the insurgents would now make inroad into the South-East states. He noted that mixing up suspected terrorists with other people facing other charges in detention could bring indoctrination, a situation he said would breed more terrorists instead of taming the scourge. Advising the government to review its action with a view to avoiding the looming anarchy and also encouraged the people of the South-East states to continue their agitation until the Federal Government would rescind its decision.
