Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja had upheld the judgment of a lower court which declared Honourable Pat Asadu as the candidate of the party and therefore duly elected federal lawmaker to represent Nsukka/Igbo Eze South federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Engineer Ugwuegede in his prayers want the apex court to declare him the authentic PDP candidate and winner of the March 28 National Assembly election, having won the party primary conducted by the Senator Anthony Manzo-led Electoral Committee sent to Enugu state by the national secretariat of the party.

Engineer Ikechukwu Ugwuegede defeated his only opponent in the primary, Vita Abba to emerge as the party candidate.
Engineer Ugwuegede is claiming that the result sheet presented by Pat Asadu before the High Court and Court of Appeal was fake as the latter never participated in the primary conducted by the Senator Manzo-led Electoral Committee.
Further checks by Saturday Expdonaloaded blog revealed that the PDP National Secretary, Professor Adewale Olaipo, in an affidavit he deposed to claimed ignorance of the result sheet presented before the Appeal Court as he submitted that he never signed nor endorsed the said result sheet.
Engineer Ugwuegede in a separate press statement has appealed to his supporters to remain calm and expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would reverse the judgment of the Court of Appeal.
“Being dissatisfied by this ruling of the Court of Appeal, I have directed that an appeal be filed at the Supreme Court of Nigeria. I am confident that the mandate given by you so freely to me will yet be restored there.
“ I therefore urge all of you to remain calm and steadfast in your support of my candidature and of our Party’s position. You know who you voted for at the party primaries of December 6, 2014 and at the general elections of March 28, 2015. Your votes will not be in vain. The Lord has ordained it that you will be represented by the person you chose. I remain proud and honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the people in giving me their mandate to represent them and I pledge to defend this mandate until justice is done.”
