Expdonaloaded News; Nwaiwu, counsel to Abia PDP guber candidate, dies in Imo

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Amaechi Nwaiwu, who was among the team of lawyers, representing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abia State chapter at the governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Imo State is dead.
His friend, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), announced his death at the tribunal sitting yesterday morning.

Uzoukwu, who is the lead counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said Nwaiwu died after arriving Owerri, Imo State capital yesterday, from Lagos with no report of illness.
He, however, told newsmen at the venue of the tribunal that his demise would not affect proceedings since he was not the only counsel prosecuting the election matter for PDP at the tribunal.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Usman Bwala asked other lawyers to observe a minute silence for the deceased before adjourning the to June 22 for mention after the petitioners and respondents confirmed being served in their replies in the matter between Alex Otti of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
