The House also approved the appointment of six Senior Special Advisers (SSA) as requested by the governor.
The 2015 budget, which was presented to the House by the immediate past governor, Chief Martin Elechi on December 31, 2014, has a total of N80.017,929,870. However, the strained relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms then, made the lawmakers not pass the budget.
In a letter sent to the House by Governor, Umahi, and read during the plenary, he requested the House to approve the withdrawal of the budget to enable the state government reconsider it, and to ensure it conformed with the reality of the moment and yearning of the people of the state.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com...The letter reads in part: “I wish to withdraw the 2015 budget proposal earlier presented to this House for consideration to enable our administration re-amend the budget to conform to the present realities and economic challenges. We shall resubmit the budget for your kind evaluation and consideration before June 30,2015”.The lawmakers argued that for the budget to be practicable and workable, it was expedient for it to be withdrawn to allow the new government reconsider it to conform to the present realities and economic challenges.
In another letter by Governor Umahi which was also unanimously approved; he requested the lawmakers to approve the appointment of six Senior Special Advisers to assist him in running the affairs of the state.
