After all said and done, denial and counterclaims, the supervising
Minister ,Ngozi Okonjo -Iweala on the eve of May 29th released to
Governor Wike the sum of 200 billion Naira as monies owed the state by
the Federal government of Nigeria. Remember, the former governor, Chibuike Amaechi had a long battle with the government at the centre over the said sum...these monies were expended on federal projects namely: the Owerri -port Harcourt road and others. Countless reasons including the allegation of inflated figures were given as reasons for their refusal to pay up the debts.
Is it not surprising to learn that the money has been paid to a 'die - minute administration' of Wike...talk about double standard!
The public was kept in the dark yet again. No wonder the governor has continued to award contracts to friends and family without the bazaar of due process. He has continued to issue monies to associate in lieu of delivering on his election pledge.
Rivers people must rise up now or never to demand that the official of the Rivers State government accounts for this massive fund.
If we wait a while, we might not have the chance to so do. The choice is ours!
