Expdonaloaded News; Lagosians scramble for fuel at Capital Oil outlet

_83209163_027323829-1More than 20,000 Lagosians yesterday besieged the Capital Oil mega filling station at Omole area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in search of fuel.

The station which opened as early as 5am, had long queues of motorists, who later defied the management’s order to maintain a single lane, a situation that later degenerated into chaos at about 8am.
Securitymen, who provided protection for the company’s facilities, were overwhelmed as a result of the huge number of motorists.
A visit to the station by Expdonaloaded blog revealed hundreds of youths struggling to get the scarce product, a development that denied some middle-aged people the opportunity to buy fuel because they couldn’t cope with the youths.
As at 12 noon, the entire stretch of the road had been taken over by motorists, forcing commuters travelling to Ibadan and other parts of the country to face uncoming vehicles, in a bid to make their trips outside Lagos.
The situation also led to a spill-over of the traffic situation to Alausa Central Business District in Ikeja and some parts of Ojodu Berger.Speaking to Expdonaloaded blog, one of the motorists said he had been on the queue since 6am and was yet to get fuel as at noon, adding that he left home early in anticipation that he would get the product. As at yesterday, Capital Oil seems to be the only filling station selling fuel at the approved price of N87 a litre,a situation that further compounded the traffic situation, leaving motorists to suffer untold hardship.Meanwhile,Guranty Trust Bank and First City Monument Bank in electronic mails to their customers yesterday said the current fuel shortage has limited their abilities to supply diesel to all branches to sustain normal branch operations.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com.The mails read in part: ‘‘Due to this, we unavoidably have to close our branches nation-wide at 1pm, from tomorrow Monday, May 25 2015.“Whilst we have had to take this step to close branch operations early, we would like to seek your understanding at this time, and assure you that we will continue to work hard at finding alternative solutions to this situation and will advise you once the situation has abated.“However, all our alternative channels will be fully functional and available for all your personal and business banking,’’ the mails said.
