The Buhari Presidential Grassroots Movement (BPGM) has called on the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to strive for a state of uninterrupted electricity supply by redressing the serious inadequacies in the power sector.

It pointed out that the current situation had been the fundamental problem destabilising all critical economic activities in the country, leading to the loss of about $16 billion annually through the pervasive use of generating sets nationwide.post by expdonaloaded.blogspot.com..Addressing journalists on ‘the Role of Electricity in the Rapid Development of the Economy under the Muhammadu Buhari Administration’, during a pre-presidential inauguration media interactive session, at the weekend in Abuja, Dr. John Osuala, president of the BPGM, emphasized that maximum attention on the provision of constant electricity was needed by the incoming Federal Government, saying every facet of life hinged on stable and constant availability of electric power.The movement stated that lack of reliable electricity in the country, considered as Africa’s biggest oil and gas producer, was not only an unmitigated embarrassment, but also a self-inflicted national economic suicide.It appealed to Buhari to embark on specific action plan, through the two-pronged strategy of direct Federal Government intervention, and the policy of fast-tracking independent power plant projects, through the organised private sector, to end the debacle.
