Expdonaloaded news: Buhari’s burden, by Anyaoku

Buhari-Beware-of-the-Tambuwal-Effect-By-Jibrin-Ibrahim-640x359Elder statesman and former Secretary- General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, said yesterday the promises made by the President-elect ,Gen Muhammadu Buhari during his campaigns are the burden that he would have to carry.
He said Buhari is facing huge expectations from the people and as such, he should keep his promises if his integrity and good name which he built over the years, must be retained .

The former Commonwealth scribe spoke yesterday after a meeting with Gen Buhari in Abuja .
Anyaoku’s admonition came a day after Buhari lamented that Nigerians were expecting so much from him. The President-elect pleaded that people should be patient with his incoming administration, while promising to go the extra mile by fixing the economy, security challenges and dilapidated social infrastructure.
Anyaoku said: “I had useful discussions with the president-elect, congratulated him on his victory and told him he is coming in as President on a very high wave of expectations throughout the country.
“I also told him that the high expectation are based on the promises he made during his campaigns to the people, but more importantly, on the general perception of his character.”post by expdonaloaded blogspot.com
Anyaoku, who is Head of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Foreign Aaffairs, stressed, “he is perceived as a man with very strong sense of discipline, a man who is truly averse to corruption, a man whose lifestyle has been frugal not ostentatious or opulent and above all, a man who is very committed to the welfare of the masses.
“I believe that if his administration reflects these qualities, the country’s challenges and problems would be effectively tackled.”
Asked to comment on the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa and the killing of four Nigerians in Indonesia over drug trafficking, Anyaoku said: “I think Nigeria’s relations with the world at the moment is quite good, we’ve had a tiff with the South African situation, but not with the South African Government. I think the xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa has been condemned by the South African Government and I believe the way President Goodluck Jonathan has handled the issue, had been very good .
“I would suggest that the incoming President will continue the personal relationship with the President of South Africa,” he said.
