Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
Benue, Hon Terhemen Tarzoor, Governorship Candidate has congratulated
Governor- elect, Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom, over his victory in last
Saturday’s governorship election.
Tarzoor was said to have put a telephone call through to Ortom at
exactly 9.40PM, Sunday to felicitate with his opponent who won on the
platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the final result, the APC polled a total of 422,932 votes while the
PDP scored 313,878 with a difference of 109,054 votes in favour of
Ortom.
The defeated governorship candidate said he aspired for the position so
as to have the opportunity to make his contributions to the development
of the state but the election of Chief Ortom was a clear indication that
Benue people have spoken.
In a statement signed by the Media Adviser to the Tarzoor /Ngbede
Campaign Organisation, Dr. Cletus Akwaya and made available to Daily
Sun, Tarzoor wished the Governor- elect a successful tenure of office
and God’s blessings.
Meanwhile, some youths from Tarzoor’s community were said to have
blocked a portion of the Gboko/ Makurdi road and making burn-fires on
the highway in protest of the defeat of their brother yesterday.
But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Austin Ezeani
(ASP) said policemen were quickly deployed to the area to wade into the
matter, disperse the youths and restore sanity while also opening up the
highway to road users.
