South-West PDP berates APC over abuse of Yoruba leaders

Pdp-ApcPresident Goodluck Jonathan Campaign team in the South-West has described as uncouth and consistent with the behaviour and utterances of the opposition party and its  principal actors, a statement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Yoruba leaders over the endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 28 presidential election.

The campaign Publicity Director of Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of APC, Mr. Garuba Shehu, had in a recent statement alleged that the endorsement of President Jonathan by members of the national conference from the South-West was predicated on spurious and utterly dishonest reasons, adding that the real reason for the endorsement was because of their personal economy.
Reacting to the remarks, the South-West PDP in a statement issued yesterday by Media Coordinator, Presidential Campaign Council South-West chapter, Akin Osuntokun, said: “Like any sane and rational person, our first reaction to the gutter snipe insult on Yoruba leaders by the APC, was that, ‘no, this cannot possibly be true’, even though it is consistent with the antecedent behaviour and utterances of the APC and its principal actors.
“We thought that no cultured and well-brought upperson will degenerate to this depraved and primitive level in defaming the authentic leadership of the Yoruba nation and by extension, the whole Yoruba people.”
The party mentioned Dr. Kunle Olajide, Dr. Femi Obayori, Senator Femi Okunrounmu, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, Remi Olatubora, Basorun Seinde Arogbofa, Sir. Samuel Adetuyi, Dr. Amos Akingba, Chief Olu Falae, Chief Sola Ebiseni, Lady Yemi Mahmud- Fasominu, Ogundipe Lanre, Chief Richard Akinjide, Wale Ajani, Adekanmbi Ayodele, Salvador Moshood Adegoke and Otunba Gani Adams as among the set of distinguished personalities, who represented the Yoruba nation at last year’s national conference, adding that the same were the leaders who teamed up with other distinguished Yoruba icons to endorse the candidacy of President Jonathan for the 2015 presidential election.
