Anambra PPA leader, others bemoan INEC’s shoddy preparation for polls

PARTYLOGO-PPAThe much awaited general elections has come and gone, but not without its sweet stories and woes.
The Peoples Progressives Alliance (PPA) leader in Anambra state, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo, on Saturday be­moaned the late arrival of the Independent National Elec­toral Commission (INEC) of­ficials and none functionality of the card readers.

He stated that in his Umuo­jogwo ward 1, Ekebelee, and other polling units in Umuchu community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, the experience was terrible and frustrating.
He stated that the INEC workers did not arrive on time and when they came at about 11am, the card readers did not work as expected and the adhoc staff refused to use manual process to accredit the voters.
“The presiding officer said he will wait for the supervi­sory presiding officer to di­rect him on what to do, and we waited for two hours. You known what panic that sends to the voter waiting endlessly” he said.
Ezeemo said however that after several hours of wait­ing for commencement of the election, it turned out well as it was very peaceful .
He commended the pa­tience of the voters, which he described as an indication of maturity, he was optimis­tic that in future election, the people would have equipped themselves well with tenets of electoral process.
Ezeemo noted also that the security personnel conducted themselves as expected indi­cating that all bodies are now working towards maintain our nascent democracy.
He appealed to INEC to se­riously work on their internal operations, which had contin­ued to create avoidable panic and delays in the process of conducting elections in the state.
The PPA leader commend­ed the party faithful in the state for conducting themselves ac­cordingly as there was no re­ports of misconduct from any quarter against them .
