Tight security, as Jonathan campaigns in Port Harcourt Stadium

JonathanThere was water-tight security yesterday, at the controversial Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, venue of President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential campaign rally.

Security men were seen at strategic positions while members of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and supporters, who attended the rally were totally frisked by the security so as to ensure that no one entered the venue with dangerous weapons.
The party members and supporters including women, who had hand bags, had hectic time with the security men, as they disallowed them from entering the stadium with their bags.
Vehicles of the Anti-bomb disposal unit of the Nigerian Police were deployed to every point inside the stadium.
There were also legions of security men drawn from the army, police, State Security Service, para-military agencies, patrolling in and around the stadium.
Daily Sun gathered that the heavy presence of security men at the venue of the rally, was the consequence of the refusal of the state governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to grant PDP the permission to use the stadium, and the latter’s insistence in using the facility for the rally.
