The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has vowed not to abandon all
the projects being executed by the current administration, if elected
into office in the forthcoming election.
Isiaka assured that his administration would finish work on all yet-to-be completed projects of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led government if given the mandate by the electorate in the state.
The PDP governorship candidate gave the assurance at the palace of the Alake of Egbaland where the Council of Obas in Egbaland gave him their royal blessing ahead of the governorship polls in the state.
He, however, declared his intention to increase the local contents of the projects by engaging local contractors with a view to reducing “capital flight” from the state.
Isiaka also disclosed he was already working with the Federal Government to ensure that one out of the seven proposed cargo airports was sited in the state.
The PDP standard bearer, who was in company with the state party Chairman, Chief Bayo Dayo, former deputy governor of Ogun State, Salmot Badru and the Ogun Central senatorial candidate, Dr. Bisola Sodipo – Clark, commended the Egba for their role in the political evolution of Nigeria.
He also appreciated the longtime cordial relationship between Egba and Yewa, pledging to develop the rural areas, towns and villages outside major cities neglected by the outgoing government.
Isiaka noted that economic and commercial activities in such rural communities had been crippled.
“The current government has abandoned the rural communities and border towns causing huge under-development of the areas. The PDP administration under my watch will set up a Border Town Development Authority to fast track the development of these areas that have been criminally neglected by the Amosun regime.
“I am also committed to bringing to reality the Abeokuta City Centre and Central Business District project embarked upon by the immediate past government but which has been neglected by Amosun because they do not understand how the idea will be implemented.”
