Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State yesterday flagged-off
construction of the Kishi Kaiama federal road at a cost of N7.9
billion.
Speaking on the event in Kaiama Local Government headquarters, Governor Ahmed said the development effort was aimed at enhancing socio economic development of the people of the area.
The governor, who disclosed that the 64-kilometre road project would gulp N7.9 billion, explained that the rehabilitation would eliminate the hardship being experienced by motorists and commuters on the route when completed. Governor Ahmed reminded the people that the road was a federal road, but he was driven by the socio-economic factors and the need to promote the welfare of the people, hence, his intervention on the road and other federal roads in the state.
He added that the road would boost the socio-economic life in the area.
“ In doing these, we are also demonstrating to the people of kaiama and indeed of Kwara State that we are an administration that matches its words with action.
“As a resourceful administration, we have secured necessary funding for jump-starting and successful completing of the project,” the governor explained.
He further maintained that despite the setbacks caused by dwindling allocation, his administration would continue to intervene on federal and indeed other road projects in the state to reduce the discomfort being caused by bad roads.
