Lagos guber: PDP reads riot act to aspirants

PDP1Ahead of its December 8 governorship primaries, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has cautioned the various governorship aspirants on the platform of the party to desist from maligning themselves in disguise using different groups.

The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Taofik Gani, who read the riot act during a parley   with journalists at the party secretariat in Ikeja yesterday warned that any aspirant found to be culpable would be sanctioned stating that such media attacks though targeted at such aspirant is equally against the party.
According to him “no group or individual should disguise to attack any aspirant, though it is targeted at an aspirant, it will cause bigger damage to the party. The common enemy is the All Progressives Congress (APC). They must all sheathe their swords for now.
“From henceforth, any press release that is made to disparage any aspirant will be investigated and anybody identified to be behind such, will be disciplined. We admonish party members to play according to the rules.”
Taofik said eight aspirants would be participating in the PDP governorship primaries on Monday. He listed the aspirants to include: Mrs Modupe Chukwuneke, Dr Adegbola Dominic, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Mr Deji Doherty. Others are Mr Jimi Agbaje, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi and Ambassador Tokunbo Kamson.
Also, the PDP spokesman said contrary to the opinion of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, that the party will not win the next governorship election in the state, the PDP remains the party to beat in Lagos State .
He noted that “only God can determine any future occurrence and no Oba should play God”
It would be recalled that the Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu, at a recent function reportedly stated that the PDP will never govern Lagos State.
